Thank you thank you so much to the animal welfare league! Your staff is amazing and gave me the tools catch my cat who had escaped, even if we didnt live in city of Alexandria. Your dedication to animals is superb!
I am not the kind of person who feels the need to write a negative review BUT for awla, I will. For starters the staff IS SO BEYOND RUDE and LIED to me and my husbands face! We had adopted a dog over the summer and he had been surrendored without me knowing, btw. I called and begged to get him back for two days. Finally gave up, came back today to try to adopt another dog since fees were waived for vets. Was told that staff did not trust to let us adopt again until our circumstances changed WHICH THEY DID.... then suddenly they heard stories as to why they dont feel comfortable letting us adopt again then wouldnt even tell us what was said!!!! From the moment we walked in staff had nothing BUT attitude and did until we left! Ive never been so upset by an establishment in my life. So many other shelters in the nova area. Which will offer ACTUAL customer service and not lie to your face!!The way you guys treated me and my was husband was HEARTBREAKING!! We loved that dog to death and still do. Id love to know if he was adopted of id hes even ok. But of course as rude as you all are i dont expect to ever know!!!
DO NOT PURCHASE PETS FROM HERE. I would never recommend this place! I went on a Sunday to adopt a cat, and I spoke to a Jean Brooks who was very rude. at 4:27 I informed her I wanted to adopt a cat. At first there was no problem that I could take the cat that day, but then after I paid the fee she said that I would have to come pick up the cat the next day. I told her that I worked in DC and I wasn't off until 4pm. She told me that if I wasn't in by 5 not only would I not be able to get the cat, but I would lose the 100 dollars that I just paid! (I thought the holding fee was 50 bucks which of course is non-refundable not the full 100 dollars I paid). I come the next day and go over the paperwork which Jean told me would take 45 minutes but it only took 10!! Her excuse for not allowing me to get my cat the same day was that it took 45 minutes to go over the paperwork. I was fuming! She simply didn't want to do the extra paperwork so I could get her the same day. To Top it off, when I purchased the cat she told me there were no issues with her so far as health. Then when I pick the cat up, suddenly the cat hasn't been using the bathroom. Now after I've taken her to the Vet, she has serious stomach issues! These people clearly shouldn't be running a shelter.
Do the extra drive to Arlington welfare league. You will have a 5 star experience. They are not associated with this location and not out of the way.
I adopted my dog from here on National Clear the Shelter Day which meant it was super busy. They still made plenty of time to meet with me and go over advice and details about the individual dog. He has been a great boy and was in really good health when I got him. The staff really cares about the animals and finding them great forever homes.
